My background is in biology and ecology. For the last 8 years I have been working in the Outreach Office at SUNY-ESF on a variety of different education projects. These have included development of online courses, our dual enrollment program (ESF in the High School), two Smart Scholars grants, grant writing, environmental science summer camps for K-12 students, and graduate student mentoring programs for K-12 students.
My personal interests in education and online education revolve around two areas: trying to create authentic applications of science for middle and high school students so they understand and can apply the scientific process, and how to create comparable (if not better) applied field and/or lab science experiences by utilizing technology.
