I've been a professional educator for 17 years and have been intimately involved with curriculum, instruction, and educational technology for most of that time first as an elementary music teacher, then as a school-based technology coordinator, and then in various roles with online and hybrid learning in the university setting. I have assisted with the design of hundreds of online college and university courses.
My personal philosophy of teaching and learning is heavily influenced by social learning theory and social constructivism.
My research interests revolve around how interaction affects learner engagement, and my current line of research is exploring how faculty behaviors and traits impact online discussions.
I produce a podcast related to online learning, and I host a web site with information related to my Online Course Criticism qualitative evaluation model for facilitating the scholarship of teaching and learning.
I try to stay active on Twitter and have my tweets pushing to Google Buzz (just for kicks).
I'm always happy to engage with others interested in teaching and learning effectiveness, so please feel free to contact me!
