about me
Lisa Stephens, PhD – serves as Senior Strategist of SUNY Academic Innovation in Academic Technology and Instructional Support (Office of the SUNY Provost). Lisa manages all operational aspects of the Innovative Instruction Technology Grants (IITG) program, a SUNY-wide initiative designed to foster and openly share instructional innovations in support of Open SUNY.
Lisa also serves as Project Director of FLEXspace: the Flexible Learning Environments eXchange, an open access repository of learning space designs and best practices that recently launched in beta (highlighted in Campus Technology magazine). She co-chairs the University at Buffalo Faculty Senate Teaching & Learning Committee and is immediate past-chair of the SUNY Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching & Technology (FACT2). She recently served on several UB Middle States re-accreditation and assessment teams, and enjoys an adjunct assistant professor appointment in the department of Communication. She co-chaired the Teaching, Learning & Technology Task Group that made master planning recommendations for learning space and facilities renovations.
Prior to her current appointment, she was a member of the IT Policy & Communications team, responsible for strategic and operational communications for the Office of the Chief Information Officer. For several years, she led the UB Distance Education and Videoconference Operations unit. Recent publications include EDUCAUSE Quarterly, the Encyclopedia of Distance and Online Learning (2nd Ed.), the College and University Media Review, as well as various institutional research reports.
